Curriculum vitae et studiorum
Studies
- Degree in Physics received from the University of Padua.
- Specialization in "Science for the Preservation of Cultural Goods
" at the University of Florence.
- Attended Course of Specialization in Optics at the National Institute
of Optics of Florence.
Research activities
Activities developed for more than 8 years in the Quantum Electronics Laboratory
(QE) of the Department of Electronics and Informatics (DEI) of the University
of Padova, where he is presently working. His expertise is mainly in the
fields of spectroscopy and optics.
His primary research activities have been:
- spectroscopic research on high power electric arcs; began with the
degree thesis and continued in collaboration with the Center of Electric
Researches of ENEL (Italian Electrical Society), with studies on the diagnostic
of the plasma;
- design, realization and characterization of an ultra low signal optical
detector prototype, based on a photon counting technique for the detection
of partial discharges in blinded electrical components;
- studies on the optical properties of new organic scintillators in
the far UV and VUV;
- collaboration with the CIEMAT (Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas
Medioambientales y Tecnológicas - Madrid) on the determination of the
quantum efficiency in VUV of phosphors wich is important in the detection
of plasma radiation coming from nuclear fusion apparatus;
- characterization of optical detectors, photodiode arrays, CCD, CEM,
with absolute efficiency measurements in the spectral range from the visible
to the soft X-rays;
- feasibility study for an experiment of absorption spectroscopy of
ions using synchrotron radiation and laser-generated plasma in collaboration
with Prof. P. Nicolosi;
- teaching activities while in the conducting the Laboratory associate
course in Quantum Electronics, in collaboration with Prof. G. Tondello.
In 1998 he founded, in collaboration with Dr. A. Boscolo,
PHOENIX – Ricerca e Tecnologie Ottiche Srl
, a spin-off of the National Institute for the Physics of the Matter (INFM),
whose objective is the transfer of competencies in the field of optics in
order to realize a conjunction between productive reality and the research
world; the primary activity of Phoenix is development and design of optical
systems, measurements, tests, consulting.
