Curriculum vitae et studiorum

Luca Poletto, born in 1968, has been graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Padova, Italy, in 1993. He has achieved the PhD title in Electronic Engineering from the same university in 1997. He is presently a research scientist at the National Institute for the Physics of Matter ( INFM ).

His main interests are development and characterization of UV detectors, both photon-counting and silicon-based, optical design and realization of spectrometers and monochromators for the VUV and soft X-ray spectral regions, and study of X-ray diagnostic techniques.
He has been involved in a program for the project and realization of a photon-counting intensified CCD system and in development of CCD controllers. He was also responsible of the characterization of CCD sensors in a very wide spectral region, ranging from the near-infrared to the soft X-ray region.. Moreover, he has patented a technique for reconstruction of images with increased resolution.
He is involved in alignment and characterization of EUV and soft X-ray spectrographs. In particular, he is at the present involved in studying innovative configurations using variable-line-spaced gratings both for laboratory and space application. Moreover, he is involved in the INFM project “Femtosecond soft X-ray generation by high-energy laser pulses” for the realization of the spectroscopic instrumentation for diagnostics of high-order laser harmonics generated by the interaction between an ultrashort laser pulse focused on a gas jet.
