Description:
At the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Laboratory (IAS-Lab) of DEI, the research activity focuses on robot motion planning, robotic vision, simultaneous localization and mapping of mobile robots, multi-robot systems, human-machine interaction for small humanoids, simulation environments and programming tools for robotics, neuromusculoskeletal modelling, thermodynamic frameworks for robot colonies. We have studied also the emergent collective coordination activities for multi-robot systems and the design of distributed vision systems. In particular, the new “3Dcomplete” EU-FP7 funded Project aims at developing efficient 3D completeness inspection methods that exploit two different technologies. The first one is based on calculating arbitrary views of an object given a small number of images of this object, the second one aims at combining 3D shape data with color and texture information. Furthermore, experimentations on the role of autonomous robots for educationa
l robotics is pursued by the research group, by using both small humanoids, LEGO robots and software simulators. In the recent years, IAS-Lab has been involved in the scientific organization and management of the 1st and 2nd International Conferences on Simulation, Modelling and Programming for Autonomous Robots (SIMPAR-2008, and SIMPAR-2010), of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Workshops on Humanoid Soccer Robots at IEEE-Humanoids Conferences (in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009), and in the 1st and 2nd Workshops on Omnidirectional Robot Vision respectively at SIMPAR08 and IEEE/ICRA-2010. |
