Dynamic vs. Quasi-Static: threshold

Properties of the quasi-static model:

• Estimate for the threshold pressure: .
• Bifurcation: stable fixed point $\mapsto$ stable $2$-point cycle.
• This value underestimates $p_t$.

Experimental results from the dynamic model:

• From the dynamic model we get higher, $F_s$-dependent values.
• The system is robust with respect to $F_s$.
• $p_t$ converges towards a ``true'' value $p_t=1802$ Pa, for $F_s \rightarrow \infty$.
• Around threshold ``squeaks'' occur.
