Omnidirectional sensor with retina-like
CMOS
The aim of the thesis is to build a new omnidirectional vision
sensor, in which the photosensitive element (CMOS) has not a rectangular
geometry with square pixels, but circular with space-variant pixel
density. This particular geometric organization makes the CMOS
similar to the vertebrate retina, having a high-resolution area
at the centre of the sensor. The sensor was developed by Giulio
Sandini at the LIRA-Lab,
University of Genova.
The thesis will develop algorithms inspired by human or animal
vision, in order to process the low-level information acquired
by the retina-like sensor. |
