Exam Rules

The final exam consists of a single written test, divided into two parts:

  1. The first part consists of questions on the material covered during the lectures (definitions, proofs, etc). These questions aim at assessing the proficiency of the student on the course topics. The first part contributes to 30% of the final grade.

  2. The second part consists of exercises requiring the solution of novel problems using the techniques taught in the course. The second part aims at assessing the student's ability to apply the learned techniques to new scenarios. The second part contributes to 70% of the final grade.

There is no lab attached to this course. (Voluntary) team projects, which involve studying and presenting up to date research material, will be discussed in class. Successfully completed team projects provide exemption from the first part of the written test and will contribute to 30% of the final grade.

In order to encourage regular attendance of the lectures, 1 extra point (out of 30) will be added to the final score of students attending at least 85% of the lectures.
