Sub-TW Sub-10-fs Laser Pulses - II
-
The Ti:sapphire laser:
duration: 25 fs,
max energy: 1 mJ
central wavelength: 795 nm
repetition rate: 1 kHz
Sub-10-fs pulses are generated by the hollow fiber compression technique
Nisoli et al. APL 68 p. 2793 (1997)
The 30-fs pulses are coupled into a 60-cm-long argon-filled hollow fiber (inner diameter of 300 or 500 ?m). The spectrally broadened pulses are then compressed in a high throughput dispersive delay line realized using chirped mirrors. Typical pulse duration ranges from 5 to 7 fs. The linearly polarized output beam is almost diffraction limited, with a nearly Gaussian far-field distribution.
