The evaluation is based on the following two parts:
Homeworks:
- 3 homeworks will be assigned during the course,
approximately one every two weeks
(starting from the second week).
- The homeworks are executed in groups of 2 or 3 students
which are formed at the beginning of the course and, together, they
contribute up to 6 points to the final grade.
- Each member of a group will receive the same number of
points for the homeworks.
- Each homework has a
specific deadline (about 2 weeks after the date of assignment)
Groups that submit all homeworks within the
specified deadlines will get 1 extra point as bonus.
Students belonging to groups that do not
submit all homeworks within the
specified deadlines, will be asked to discuss the homeworks in
an oral exam after passing the written exam.
- The homeworks must be submitted before the first member
of the group takes the written exam, and remain valid for
the entire academic year (19/20) until the 4th exam session (included).
Written exam:
-
The written exam
consists of a number of theory questions and exercises
to be answered/solved in 2 hours.
-
There will be one written exam administered
in each of the four exam sessions.
-
The written exam is taken individually by each student
and contributes up to up to 25 points
to the final grade.
-
In order to pass the exam, a student must get at least
12 points in the written exam and 18 points as
a sum of the homework and written exam evaluations.
Oral exam (discretionary).
In some, hopefully rare, cases students may be asked, at
the discretion of the instructor, to
take an oral exam after the written exam (and in the same
exam session). As mentioned before, the oral exam is compulsory for students
belonging to groups that do not submit all homeworks within
the deadlines.
