In brief…

Just a word about the reason for which this site exists: with my research group in Padova (the PEG, Photonics and Electromagnetic Group) we had recently restylished the official website, so in that occasion I was thinking, why do not have my own site too? No sooner said than done!

Who I Am

I was born near Verona, Italy, in 1979. On October 2003, I graduated with a Laurea degree in Telecommunication Engineering (M.Sc. equivalent)
from the University of Padua (Italy) with a thesis entitled ‘Analysis of the transient behavior of the Polarization Mode Dispersion on periodic spun fibers’ and
I was awarded the ‘Antonio Sarpi’ gold medal for the best engineering student of my year.
On the next January, I enrolled the Ph.D. program in the Department of Information Engineering at the same university.
From April 2004 till October 2004 I worked at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea,
as a visiting graduated student in the framework of the Project of Particular Relevance ‘New Generation Fiber Optics and All-Fiber Devices’,
established between the Italian Republic and the Republic of Korea.
From February to August 2006, I worked as a visiting graduated collaborator at Bell Labs (Crawford Hill, New Jersey) – Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent).
I completed my Ph.D. in march 2007 defending the thesis entitled ‘Polarization Mode Dispersion in spun single-mode fibers’
From January 2007 to March 2008 I got a research fellowship from the University of Padua to conduct a research on ‘slow/fast light’ applications in optical fiber and starting
from April 2008 I got another research fellowship for doing research on ‘Reflectometric measurements for the characterization of optical fibers’.

In 2007 and in 2008 I had been nominated for ‘C. Offelli Award’ for best young researchers in the Department of Information Engineering, University of Padua.
I am a member of Consorzio Universitario per le Telecomunicazioni (CNIT) and a IEEE member. I am a referee for Journal of Lightwave Technology (IEEE/OSA)
and Optics Express (OSA).

My all-day life is split between Arcole, where my family lives, and Padua, where I work. For who that ignores where Arcole is, I just want to say that it is a small town near Verona. In Arcole and in Padova live some friends of mine: the others are spread all over the world.
You can find more detailed information about me and my education in my curriculum vitae.
