Mathematical Aspects of
Quantum Modeling, Estimation and Control

The success of the transition between quantum information processing theory and its application is tied to the development of new, efficient mathematical tools for modeling and controlling physical systems at the quantum scale. This poses a wide spectrum of problems laying at the intersection of various fields of mathematics, from calculus of variations to non-commutative stochastic analysis.

The meeting will focus mainly on:

- the relationship between quantum dynamical systems and information processing tasks;

- mathematical aspects in the control of open quantum systems;

-information-theoretic methods in quantum modeling and estimation;

This workshop aims to offer researchers in the fields of mathematical quantum control, quantum information theory and mathematical physics an occasion to communicate their most recent advances and to take advantage of an interdisciplinary environment to share ideas, explore new challenges and establish fruitful collaborations.

TRAVELING INFORMATION:

The conference will be at the Department of Information Ingeneering (DEI) of the University of Padova, via Gradenigo 6/B, Padova

By plane

The nearest airport is in Venice, www.veniceairport.it.

From there you can reach Padova by taxi, bus, train or bus.

Taxi or shuttle: there is a service of airport (Coop. Radiotaxi Patavina, www.taxipadova.com) with a collective minibus at a cost of about 25 € per person. Book 24 hours in advance by email (see website). An equivalent service is offered by Landomas, www.landomas.it.

Bus: you can use the SITA bus service (SITA). Departures every hour on the side of the main entrance of the airport.

Bus and train: the train station of Mestre-Venice by bus ATVO Fly Bus or take bus No. 15 dell'ACTV. Ask the information Kiosk at the airport for details and schedule.

Then take a train to Padua (Trenitalia www.trenitalia.com). The trip lasts about 30 + 20 minutes.

By train

Destinations and timetables can be found on the Trenitalia website, www.trenitalia.com. From the Padua train station you can reach the Department by taxi, bus or walking.

Taxi: The taxi line is located in front of the train station (www.taxipadova.com, tel +39 049 651333). It takes about 10 minutes to reach the Department.

By bus: from the train station take bus No. 18 and ODA stop at 'ex-FIAT/Portello'.

Walking: the Department may be easily reached by foot in about 20 minutes from the railway station.
