Packet traces from the DEI Intranet backbone

This is a traffic data repository realized as a support for the paper An Energy Efficient Ethernet Strategy Based on Traffic Prediction and Shaping by Angelo Cenedese, Marco Michielan, Federico Tramarin and Stefano Vitturi, submitted to the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas of Communications.

The traffic traces currently available were collected at the the border between the intranet network of the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padova, and the public Internet. The network link is a Gigabit Ethernet link (1GBASE-T).

1-hour-long traces, collected both the 17th of December, 2014, in the afternoon.
Start Time: 3.30 pm,
Start Time: 5.00 pm.

Traffic traces were collected exploiting tcpdump, keeping only the first part of each packet. This avoid spreading of sensible data, and at the same time allows the analysis of traces proposed in the referenced paper. The IP addresses in the traces have been anonymized by libtrace.

You may use WIDE traffic data for only research purposes. Actions that trespass upon users' privacy are prohibited.
