Scope:

Recently, significant progress has been made in the design and control of humanoid robots, particularly in the new international initiative of RoboCup Humanoid League that aims to foster robotics, AI and many other emerging technologies using robotic soccer games. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to develop a team of soccer-playing humanoid robots that shall be able to beat the champion of the most recent World Cup under FIFA official rules by the mid-21st century. To achieve this goal, we will have to eventually move towards creating a "humanoid soccer player" - a humanoid robot with human-like motion, intelligence, communication, and skills in playing soccer. This initiative will definitely pose a unique set of challenges to the researchers in robotics, AI and many other fields.

Topics of interest for the proposed Workshop are:

  • Design and control of humanoid soccer robots
  • Biped locomotion
  • Motion planning for humanoid soccer
  • Perception for Humanoids
  • SLAM for Humanoids
  • Multi-humanoid systems
  • Humanoid team coordination
