The BioComputing UP Laboratory, led by Prof. Silvio Tosatto, is a dynamic
group of about fifteen people working on several aspects of prediction of
protein structure & function employing techniques at the intersection between
biology, medicine, chemistry, physics & computer science. Our aim is to
integrate the development of novel methods and their application to
biologically relevant problems. The lab software and databases are available
via web applications implemented using cutting edge technologies. Part of the
lab is made of senior software developers and one sysadmin. The lab owns a
HPC cluster and has unlimited access to other external resources.
The group is currently funded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research
(AIRC), the European infrastructure for bioinformatics (ELIXIR), and
Horizon2020.
Descrizione Posizione Offerta:
We are looking for a highly motivated and creative candidate to join our lab
and maintain its web infrastructure. The successful candidate will be in
charge of developing the full stack of technologies to expose the services
implemented by the laboratory. The candidate will implement Node.js REST
applications and Angular web interfaces. Node.js will communicate with a
MongoDB management system and interact with a SGE scheduler.
Requirements:
- Master degree in computer science or in computer engineering
- Programming skills: JavaScript, MongoDB aggregation pipelines, Linux
command line advanced scripting
- Experience with Angular, Node.js and SGE will be positively evaluated
- Fluency in spoken and written English
The fellowship, which should start as soon as possible, is initially for one
year. The successful candidate will be working full-time at the BioComputing
UP Laboratory, University of Padova. The position can be extended.
