Incoming mail server = mail.dei.unipd.it

Outgoing mail server (SMTP) = mail.dei.unipd.it

Supported protocols : IMAP4 (recommended), POP3
Type of authentication: simple password
IMPORTANT : the username for authentication must be indicated WITHOUT @dei.unipd.it

Only secure connection with STARTTLS or SSL or TLS is possible

Recommended configuration
Incoming: mail.dei.unipd.it 143 IMAP4 STARTTLS
Outgoing: mail.dei.unipd.it 587 SMTP(submission) STARTTLS

It is possible to send e-mails using our mailserver only if you enable the authentication (plain unencrypted password) over STARTTLS/SSL secure connection (encrypted).

Maximum message and attachment size

The limit is currently 27 MB (26214400 bytes) but remember that when you attach a file, it is encoded to be transmitted and this results in an increase in the body of the message of about 30%.
Therefore it is possible to attach and receive one or more files for a total of about 20MB . Other mailservers in the world may have a lower limit and if this limit is exceeded, the sender will receive an error message.

Limits on INBOX (Quota Mail)

Disk space occupied by incoming mail and folders with remotely archived messages on the server is limited by a maximum quota.
Students currently have 1GB available.
By default, structured personnel have 5GB, but an increase can be requested at any time via helpdesk/mail to IT Services.
