Departmental website

Your Personal Home Page
All individuals affiliated with the DEI Department have a standard page on the institutional website that includes phone and email contact information. This data is extracted from the University directory or provided through the access request via G.I.G.A.
Anyone who has an IT account with the Department can create a personal homepage to publish personal and professional information on the web as they see fit.

To do this, you need to create a specific directory in your home folder with the following name (case-sensitive):

/home/username/Public-Htdocs

where username is your DEI username. This directory must contain a file named index.html and/or related files. You can then build your own website using plain HTML and CSS. Dynamic pages (PHP or others) are not allowed.

The published content will be visible at the URLs (both http:// and https://):

www.dei.unipd.it/~username

or

www.dei.unipd.it/homepage/username

Note: Unix permissions on your home directory and homepage files must allow access to the web server user. Therefore, you should run the following commands:

chmod o+x /home/username

chmod -R o+rx /home/username/Public-Htdocs/

Content on the institutional website
To keep the institutional website organized and up-to-date, it is important to respect its content structure. The webmaster is responsible for periodically (or upon report) verifying the integrity, completeness, and clarity of the published data, and will take appropriate actions to ensure the intended standards are met.

If you need to add content outside of pages for which you have privileges, you must submit it to the webmaster. Based on a document that you will need to provide, the webmaster will publish the content in the agreed-upon location, ensuring both proper visibility of the new content and the maintenance of the overall structure of the Website and the relevant Section.

Request/Report Procedure
To request content insertion, you must open a ticket in the "DEI web site" section of our Helpdesk, providing the following information:

  • a title (the information you want to make public);
  • a descriptive comment (optional but recommended);
  • one or more contacts (if needed);
  • recipients of the content (e.g., restricted access area or write permissions for users other than the requester);
  • PDF files or sample forms to be provided as attachments. Note: Attachments can be uploaded directly in the ticket. If there are multiple files, create a ZIP archive.
