Windows software on a remote server

Windows 2022 Servers Access

Windows 2022 servers have been installed in our Department and are accessible from the entire Department network via the RDP protocol – Remote Desktop.

By logging in with your DEI credentials to the server win.dei.unipd.it, which serves as the single access point, you will be redirected in rotation to one of the available Windows 2022 servers. The session is identical to using Windows on your own PC. With the proper configurations described in the sections at the bottom of the page, it is also possible to make the remote server "see" the data on your local PC, allowing you to work with them as if they were present on the server itself.

Usage Notice: The servers you access are primarily intended for educational purposes. They are not a replacement for the computing cluster and must not be used to run heavy simulations in Matlab or other computations that could burden the servers for extended periods. In case of evident misuse, the session in question will be terminated without further notice, and the responsible user will be temporarily denied access.

Service Description
Intended for: everyone
Description: This feature allows access, from a PC connected to the departmental network, to one of DEI's publicly accessible Windows servers. This enables the use of licensed software available at DEI without having to install it, while directly accessing data stored on your own computer. The functionality is available both for Linux and macOS PCs for which there is no corresponding version of the software, and for Windows PCs where the software cannot be or is not desired to be installed.
