Multifunction Printers with PaperCut System

New

  • Faculty, PhD students, research fellows, external professors, and technical-administrative staff have access to a new page through the university's SSO. This page contains instructions in Italian and English and a link to our cloud. Here, after logging in with department credentials, you can access a "Software" folder containing, among other things, updated PaperCut packages;
  • all others can refer to the links at the bottom of this page.

General Information
The Department has adopted PaperCut-MF software as a centralized system for managing and accounting for the use of departmental multifunction copiers. The innovative "Follow Me" printing mode is introduced, allowing for greater privacy, management flexibility, service continuity, and, not least, cost savings in terms of less wasted paper and toner for uncollected prints. The system allows charging printing costs to educational cost centers (borne by the department), research (borne by the affiliated research group), or personal (borne by the individual, with a debit note issued similarly to the use of landlines for personal purposes). The university transponder card is associated with the user account in the DEI network: to be recognized by the copier, simply bring your card close to the stylized card logo on the top of the device. The printing procedure from a computer involves these steps:

  1. Print the document from any program on the PC;
  2. select the account/billing group via the PaperCut client pop-up;
  3. authenticate and release the print job with your personal university card at any multifunction copier.

Possible accounts/billing groups (may vary from user to user based on affiliation with a research group or operational group):

  • Personal account (costs borne by the user, both color and black and white production);
  • DEI (costs fully borne by the department, both color and black and white production);
  • Research/XX (costs borne by the research group, both color and black and white production);
  • Teaching (costs borne by the department, black and white production only).

If the printer near your office is faulty or busy, you don't need to return to the office to resend the document to another printer. You can go directly to the first available and functioning printer and "release" your print job. Similarly, for copying or scanning operations, proceed with:

  1. Authentication with the university card at any multifunction device;
  2. Selection of the account/billing group to use;
  3. Execution of copying (or scanning) operations.
