DEI Account

The IT account allows access to the computers and the IT network of the Department of Information Engineering (DEI)
and the DEI teaching-IT laboratories which are located in the Polo Didattico di Engineering in via Gradenigo 6/B.
The use of the account is governed by the regulation shown at the bottom of the page.

REQUEST FOR NEW ACCOUNT: STUDENTS

 

Students of the University of Padua enrolled in one of the degree courses of the Department of Information Engineering can use the computer laboratory systems with a personal login.
To activate a DEI account and then set or reset the password, follow the procedure starting from:
https://www.dei.unipd.it/newaccount/
that page is accessible via SingleSignOn credentials (UNIWEB @studenti.unipd.it)
ERASMUS students or students of other degree courses must ask their DEI Tutor professor to send an email to IT Services
 



REQUEST FOR NEW ACCOUNT: GUESTS, COLLABORATORS, SCHOLARS, PHD STUDENTS, POSTDOCS, ETC

In all other cases (guests, collaborators, scholarship holders, PhD students, postdocs, special qualifications, etc.)
the web access procedure to DEI (GIGA) is available:
https://giga.dei.unipd.it
The account in the computer network is subject by law to the existence of an institutional relationship with the DEI or to the prior authorization of the Department Management.
The access authorization proceed through the GIGA tool, the Management Software of the Department of Information Engineering.
 



SANCTIONS FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE REGULATIONS

In case of violation of the regulation in force, the account is blocked and cannot be used to access the laboratories or for the DEI wireless network.
The duration of the suspension varies according to the type of violation:

  • Prolonged blocking of the station: 15 days
  • Non-teaching activity (game, unrelated sites, chat, p2p, etc.): 1 month
  • Use of another person's account: indefinite suspension of the account used until an interview with the IT services and subsequently 1 month of suspension
  • Violations of the law through the account: indefinite suspension until specific evaluation of the IT services and/or the director of DEI.

To reactivate the account it is necessary to present oneself at the IT Services offices with an identity document.
The suspension can be postponed in case the student needs to use the account to take an exam. In this case, a formal request from the teacher responsible for the exam and the consent of the IT services is required.
