Post-doc positions at University of Washington, Seattle

Dal 16.12.2014 al 28.02.2015

The University of Washington (UW) is significantly increasing its activities in biomedical ultrasonics and photoacoustics with the hiring of three new principal investigators into the (ultrasound) Washington Molecular Imaging and Therapy (uWAMIT) Center, a research, translation, and commercialization unit at UW partially funded by the Life Sciences Discovery Fund of the State of Washington.
Drs. Wayne Monsky (Radiology - Rad), Mike Averkiou (Bioengineering-BioE), and Matt Bruce (Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound-CIMU) have either already joined uWAMIT or will do so early in 2015. They will work closely with current investigators in Rad, BioE, and CIMU, as well as collaborators in several departments throughout the College of Engineering and the School of Medicine at UW, to form one of the largest academic research clusters in ultrasound-based diagnostics and therapeutics.
As part of this growth, we will hire several new post-docs. Topics relevant to our needs are:

  • Diagnostic ultrasound systems and devices
  • Therapeutic ultrasound systems and devices
  • Optical systems and devices
  • Cell culture, ex-vivo machine perfusion, and small animal experimental techniques
  • Ultrasound and photoacoustic phantom design and fabrication
  • Nanoparticle and microparticle synthesis and characterization
  • Mathematical modeling and advanced computation
  • Signal and image processing
  • Clinical study design

Successful post-docs in our labs usually come to the UW with at least two of the skill sets in the list above, with the expectation that they will work across research groups and disciplines to acquire skills in several other areas.
Please distribute this announcement widely since we will hire several people over the next six months. All interested PhD students should contact me at my UW e-mail address (odonnel@uw.edu), specifying their research areas of interest and also attaching a current electronic copy of their CV/resumes.
