Postdoc in Bioengineering

Dal 29.08.2023 al 30.09.2023

Descrizione Azienda:
ReNeT Lab (Rehabilitation, Neuroscience & Technology Laboratory) is part of
the Neuroscience Department of the University of Padova and the Padova
Neuroscience Center. It has a strong collaboration, through the Neurorobotics
Joint Lab, with the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Lab of the University of
Padova.
ReNeT Lab is a multidisciplinary lab focused on restoring motor functions
after lesions of the Central Nervous System by envisioning a paradigm change
of rehabilitation.
Our mission is to develop innovative rehabilitation treatments based on
individual neurobiological & neurophysiological fingerprints of recovery
(i.e. neurorobotics, neurostimulation).

Skills available at ReNeT Lab include neurophysiology, neurorehabilitation,
robotic rehabilitation, advanced EEG and EMG signal analysis, and clinical
motion analysis with wearable sensors.

The ReNeT Lab team is composed of 1 professor, 1 post-doc, 3 PhD students, 1
physiotherapist, plus neurology/neurophysiology residents and master
students.

The equipment available at the ReNeT-Lab includes several lower limb robots,
a High Density EEG (128 channels), a wireless 64 channels EEG system, a full
body IMUs suit including inertial gloves for motor tracking and motion
analysis, a transcranial magnetic Stimulation system (TMS), and a wireless
EMG system. The Neurology Clinic of the University Hospital of Padova
provides incomparable access to diverse neurological patient populations.

Descrizione Posizione Offerta:
The Rehabilitation, Neuroscience and Technologies Laboratory (ReNeT Lab) of
the University of Padua (Italy), is looking for a highly motivated and
capable postdoctoral researcher. The post-doc will be involved in one of the
research projects in the field of Neurorehabilitation and Neurorobotics
currently active at ReNeT. Research topics may include one or more areas
including (but not limited to):

- Identification of neurophysiological markers of Loss of Balance (LoB)
- EEG signatures of recovery after stroke
- Motor primitives trajectories after stroke
- Neurophysiological biomarkers of the embodiment for exoskeletons

The position is a one-year renewable full-time postdoc researcher position
(with assessment after one year) and it starts approximately in December
2023. Expressions of interest should be sent by September 30th, 2023. A call
for applications will open in October 2023.

Candidate profile
*******************

Candidates should have a solid knowledge of one or more topics among:

EEG signal analysis
Application of non-linear metrics to EEG data
EEG source localization for clinical applications
Quantification of high-density EEG time-varying connectivity in the source
space (i.e., estimation of EEG source dipole orientation for connectivity
analysis; graph methods for the analysis of functional/effective connectivity
matrices).
Clinical biomechanics, including wearable sensors analysis and EMG data
analysis and they should have obtained a Ph.D. in one of the above research fields.

Candidates should be able to solve practical and theoretical problems posed
to them with great autonomy, by using cutting-edge techniques or proposing
original methods. Strong team working skills, capacity to respect deadlines
and interdisciplinary scientific curiosity are preferential selection
criteria.

The ideal candidate will also have very good programming skills in MatLab
and/ or Python. Lastly, the candidate should have adequate scientific English
writing skills to be able to publish papers in top journals. A good
propensity for teaching and co-tutoring students is appreciated.

Requirements
************
  - Ph.D. degree related to signal analysis (EEG/EMG) or integration of
neurophysiology and clinical biomechanics or neurorobotics
  - Very good programming skills in MatLab, Python, and possibly C++
  - A good publication record for academic age
  - Good written and spoken English, communication, and presentation skills

Salary
******
The gross basic salary is according to the UNIPD postdoctoral student salary
agreement and may range between 1450 € to 1850 € / month on a 12 months
basis depending on the experience of the selected candidate.
