Through our network management portal you can turn your device on at DEI when away.
The service is available for users with a DEI account and whose PCs are registered on the wired network with their ownership or for which they have been indicated as users.

Operating Principle
The use of licensed software from within the DEI network requires the program, upon startup, to contact a license server to request authorization to use the software.
This server cannot be contacted from outside the DEI network unless a secure channel is created through which license requests can be forwarded.
The procedure therefore consists of two steps:

Our university has stipulated a contract with the Sophos company and its antivirus solution is therefore available for Windows and macOS systems.
The installer file will first attempt to remove any potential antivirus program previously installed on the system and then will continue to the actual installation procedure. So it shouldn't be necessary a manual removal of previously installed antivirus programs.

It is a good rule, when you need to connect to a remote server, to avoid the use of programs such as TELNET and FTP as all data and in particular the user's password will pass in clear text and can be easily intercepted by an attacker. To avoid unpleasant surprises it is therefore recommended the usage of an SSH client software (through TCP port 22) that encrypts the communication. Access from outside the department has been limited to the login.dei.unipd.it server only.
