Optical instrumentation for satellite and ground astronomical telescopes

Research activities:

Optical instrumentation for satellite and ground astronomical telescopes

  • The activity concerns the design and realization of optical instrumentation for astronomical observations both from satellite and ground. For example: UltraViolet Coronographic Spectrometer (UVCS) on board te ESA/NASA SOLar Heliosperic Observatory (SOHO), and of the Osiris-Wide Angle Camera (WAC) for the ESA ROSETTA space mission, the Stereo Camera (STC) of the imaging system Simbiosys and the Phebus ultraviolet spectrometer for the ESA mission Bepicolombo to Mercury, the Multi Element Telescope for Imaging and Spectroscopy (METIS), a solar coronagraph for the future ESA mission SOLar Orbiter (SOLO), the realization of photon counting ultra high speed photometers, Aqueye, the Asiago Quantum Eye at Asiago Observatory and Iqueye, the Italian Quantum Eye at the New Technology Telescope in La Silla (Chile).
